Half-Day Inshore Charter

Four hours wading and drifting the flats and shorelines of Redfish Bay for reds, trout, and flounder. Up to four anglers. Leaves at 7am every day.

The jetties in the fall

From late September into November, big bull reds push through the pass to spawn. On a half-day with the right tide, Hector runs to the jetty rocks instead of the flats. Heavier rods, cut mullet, and fish you will feel in your shoulders the next day.

Near-shore stops

When the forecast is short or the Gulf is lumpy farther out, Clint fishes the near-shore reefs and rigs on the deep-water day rather than calling it off. Same boat, same price, a shorter ride.

Deep-Water Run

Ten hours offshore on the 31 ft twin-engine cat for red snapper, kingfish, and amberjack, whatever is in season and biting. Up to six anglers. Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, weather permitting.

Bring a fly rod

The bay boat has a poling platform, and Hector is glad to pole the flats for sight-casting. Tell us when you book and we will plan the morning around a falling tide. Same half-day rate.

Sunset Marsh Trip

Three hours in the back marsh as the light goes, sight-casting to tailing reds in skinny water. Calm and shallow, so it works for kids and first-timers. Wednesday to Saturday at 4pm.

How it started

Two boats and a tide chart

Hector Salinas grew up on Mustang Island and worked deck on shrimp boats out of this harbor for eleven years. He started taking friends of friends out on Redfish Bay in a borrowed boat in 2015, and the phone kept ringing. Jetty Run Charters has two boats now. The 24 ft bay boat runs the half-days and the sunset trips. The 31 ft catamaran goes offshore three days a week with Clint at the wheel. We only sell private trips, so you will never share the boat with strangers. In the fall the reds stack up along the jetties and in the pass, and that is usually where the morning starts.

Questions we get on the phone

Licenses, weather calls, group size, and what happens to your fish.

No, per boat. The half-day is $450 for up to four anglers. The deep-water run is $1,650 for up to six. A party of two pays the same as a party of four.

Every angler needs one. Send us names and dates of birth when you book and we will have the licenses sorted before your trip. Kids under 17 do not need one.

The captain makes the call the evening before. If we cancel, you pick a new date or take a full refund. If you want to cancel because of the forecast and we think it is fishable, we will talk it through, but the call is ours.

Yes, within the legal limits for the day. We clean and bag them at the dock. Bull reds over the slot limit go back in the water, and we will take your picture first.

Sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, soft-soled shoes, and food and drinks. No glass bottles. Offshore, bring a light jacket and take your seasickness medicine the night before.

October is our favorite month. The bull reds are in the pass, the crowds are gone, and the mornings are cool. Spring is good for trout on the flats. Offshore is best from May through September, calm days permitting.
